Best Luxury Hotels in St Barths 2021

The French-speaking Caribbean island has long been popular with the rich and famous. Celebrities who vacationed here recently include Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, Spencer Matthews and Vogue Williams, Amy Schumer, Sir Paul McCartney and Lionel Ritchie. St Barth – or St Barth as it is also called – is the abbreviation of Saint Barthélemy and is aimed at those with very large vacation budgets. Most of the hotels on the island fall under the banner of “luxury”. But these are the resorts that we think are the best of the best.

Hotel Christophe Saint-Barth

This clifftop hotel’s pool is the largest on the island – the infinity-edge freshwater pool overlooks the ocean from its magnificent perch, incorporating teak lounge chairs and a restaurant and cocktail bar casual, Mango. Christo is the main restaurant, serving an opulent morning buffet and chic, upscale dinners, where seafood takes center stage. The French influence is strong at the Hotel Christopher; its spa is signed Sisley and there is more than a hint of Parisian style in the decor. There are 42 rooms in total and the resort caters for children and small pets, as well as adults.

Manapany Hotel

Just a five-minute transfer from the airport, the Manapany hotel is located in Anse de Cayes, an area underpopulated with hotels. It occupies four acres and is committed to sustainability, as evidenced by the resort’s use of electric vehicles, solar power, natural fibers and organic products. There are two swimming pools (one for adults only), a spa with Dr Hauschka treatments, a library, a game room, and a boutique selling designer clothes. Guests can participate in free yoga and Pilates classes and soak up the serenity of its peaceful gardens, home to resident turtles. It has a restaurant serving healthy and nutritious dishes, with plenty of vegan options and a bar, with its own version of the martini. Manapany in St Barth is a real place of relaxation.

Hotel Le Sereno

36 suites and three villas are available at Sereno, a hotel built next to a magical coral reef cove, with a long, freshwater swimming pool located directly above the sea. Le Sereno spa offers treatments in outdoor pavilions directly overlooking the ocean or in a couples suite with outdoor showers. The open-air restaurant serves French-Caribbean fusion cuisine by the sea (the chairs and tables by designers Christian Liaigre and Patricia Urquiola are right on the sand), with a sophisticated covered bar area next door. And the five-star service guarantees that your every whim is met.

Hotel Villa Marie Saint-Barth

There is a colorful luxury bohemian style at the hillside Hotel Villa Marie. Lemon yellow is a frequent hue throughout the property, elsewhere there are wallpaper accents covered with palm trees, oranges, blues, and furniture from Jaipur, Indonesia, Peru, Pakistan, and Tunisia. However, the food at the hotel’s restaurant, François Plantation, is very much in a southern French vein, although it is decorated in a more vintage Caribbean style. It also has a spa, a fitness room and just 18 rooms, all equipped with Nespresso machines and Pure Altitude toiletries.

After a period of closure for major renovations, Rosewood Le Guanahani reopened in fall 2021, as a full-service resort. It’s expansive, with 16 acres of land, but only accommodates 66 groups of guests in individual bungalows, ensuring a sense of space and privacy. Perfect for families, it has an Explorers Kids’ Club, designed to both educate and entertain, with plenty of activities based on creativity and engagement with nature. Adults can enjoy water sports, play tennis and book exclusive restorative treatments at the all-new Sense Spa, A Rosewood. Its renovation also included the addition of a Beach House restaurant, serving eclectic Mediterranean-inspired cuisine.
