Chennai is the cheapest city in the world for five-star hotels: LuxuryHotel.com

LuxuryHotel.com has analyzed Euromonitor’s Top 100 City Destinations using Booking.com to reveal the cities with the most five-star hotels in the world and the cities where you can get five-star luxury for the cheapest price.


A new study by LuxuryHotel.com reveals that Chennai, India is the cheapest city in the world for five-star hotels.

With over 32% of the city’s hotels being five-star destinations, Abu Dhabi ranks first in the most five-star hotels as a percentage of the total number of hotels in the world’s most visited cities. It is followed by Shenzhen, China, with 23.61% five-star hotels and Beijing, China, with 21.88% five-star hotels.

Considering the average cost of a night in a five-star hotel, research indicates that Chennai costs an average of just £34 per night. It is closely followed by Johor Bahru, Malaysia, and Bangalore, India, offering £41 per night.

Additionally, the Greek island city of Heraklion offers the lowest 5-star prices, with an average cost of £79 for a luxury night. With low prices and plenty of sunshine, many of these top 10 cities offer the perfect destination for a luxurious summer vacation.
