Are you planning to get away from Britain during Christmas time? Is your choice of destination southern Africa? Then listen.

As well as having to take regular coronavirus tests, you will not be allowed to see or speak to anyone while you are in isolation when you return to England.

So which countries, along with Nigeria, are on England’s Red List? And how do I reserve a quarantined accommodation room for my return if I go to one of them? Here is what we know.

What is the England Red List and which countries are on it?

The England Red List is a list of countries from which people of these nations are not allowed to enter Britain if they have been there in the last 10 days.

Currently, the countries on England’s Red List consist of African nations. These are Angola, Botswana, Eswaniti, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

This means that those hoping to vacation in England from one of these countries will not be able to because the government is tightening the rules to say only British or Irish nationals can enter, or if you have residency rights here. Holidaymakers from countries not on the Red List can enter.
