Luxury hotels revive the hopes of industries and offer work to customers in remote resorts
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The launch of five-star hotels like Taj and Radisson Blu in Bhopal has brought a welcome change for industries and businesses in the capital during the Covid pandemic, introducing the concept of work. That’s what industry experts told Free Press on Wednesday.
The pandemic brought the concept of working from home and the boredom of the lockdown brought the concept of working, said the city’s longtime hotelier Pranab Pradhan.
People got bored staying home during lockdown. They needed time off and a place away from the four walls of their home to relax and rekindle their productivity. Jobs, a vacation where you can relax and work simultaneously, has become a new concept for business. Five-star hotels and tourist sites are the best places to work, he added.
Bhopal has seen the launch of several hotels which are part of major Indian and global chains. For example, the 152-room Taj Lakefront in Bhopal, which Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recently opened, offers views of the lake and hills on either side.
Kanika Hasrat, Madhya Pradesh Regional Manager at Taj Group of Hotels, said: “We know that infrastructure development drives the economy and Taj’s presence in Bhopal should help the city compete with others in India for larger MICE events, including product launches, government delegations and other large gatherings.
As Covid has hit industries, most of them are looking for alternatives like jobs to avoid the losses they suffered in the first and second waves of the pandemic. As a hotel, we provide resources and facilities to work and enjoy without fear of infection. We have services that follow the Covid protocols set out by the government and a huge space to practice social distancing, Kanika added. Taj had guests looking for space and the internet to work during the day.
The Radisson Blu hotel has over 3,900 square meters of space for events and meetings. With seven indoor venues and two outdoor venues, it offers 360-degree views of the city, according to the hotel manager.
Zubin Saxena, Managing Director and Vice President (Operations), South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group, said, “I can see a V-shaped recovery for the industry. The occupancy will lead the way and while the average rate has obviously taken a pretty severe hit, I imagine they are starting to pick up, there is usually a three to four month lag behind the occupancies. Due to the strategic exercises that were undertaken last year, which unlocked synergies and efficiencies across the portfolio, I believe the long-term profitability levels of the business are going to be very strong. . »†
The historic Kushbhau Thakre Smriti Hall, which once housed Vidhan Sabha, was transformed into a luxury hotel and convention center in 2018. Kushbhau Thakre Smriti Hall which overlooks the scenic Lower Lake and Lake View Ashok Hotel offers views of the upper lake. The Lake View Ashok Hotel has been upgraded from three stars to five. The location of the third hotel is the scenic area of Kotra Sultanabad near MANIT, sources say.
Officials believe that the increase in the number of 5-star properties in Bhopal will lead to a change in the visitor profile, with the arrival of more quality tourists. And that, in turn, will make the case for better air connectivity, they hope.
Head of Tourism, Altaf Ali, says, “We have had tourists in Bhopal from all over India and the world keen to visit the nearby UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Sanchi and the Khajuraho Group of Monuments. They need a place like Taj or Radisson to relax during breaks. This will invite more people to the town as they definitely have brand value.
