Marriott to add 30 luxury hotels to its global portfolio in 2022 – Business Traveler
Marriott International has announced plans to expand its global luxury goods portfolio next year.
The hotel group has nearly 190 luxury properties in development, 30 of which are slated to open in 2022 in destinations such as Mexico, Portugal, Australia and South Korea.
Expansion of its luxury segment comes after a study conducted in conjunction with creative agency Team One found that today’s affluent travelers are “moving from a mindset of” ticking the boxes “Travel well” “mindset and take a more thoughtful approach to travel planning.
Currently, the group has 460 luxury hotels and resorts in 68 countries and territories. Brands include The Ritz-Carlton, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, St Regis, W Hotels, The Luxury Collection, Edition, JW Marriott and Bulgari.

Ritz Carlton Hotel
Next year, the brand plans to open The Ritz-Carlton Paradise Valley, The Palmeraie in Arizona, as well as a property in New York’s NoMad neighborhood, as well as the arrival of the Ritz-Carlton Melbourne. The brand is also expected to nearly double its number of resort properties over the next five years and plans to mark the opening of the St. Regis Kanai Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico, which will feature ocean views from nearly every corner. perspectives.

The brand plans to open six new properties next year in locations such as Madrid, Rome, Doha, Tampa, Riviera Maya in Kanai and Ginza. It is expected to reach a footprint of 20 properties worldwide by the end of 2022.
The Luxury Collection
This collection is expected to debut at properties in places such as Spain, India, the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Tbilisi, Georgia.
In the coming year, the brand hopes to open new properties in destinations such as Cairo, Istanbul, Mexico and Jeju Island, South Korea.
