RTE is preparing to spend € 350,000 in luxury hotel accommodation for celebrities

RTE is expected to spend 350,000 euros over two years in a chain of luxury hotels to host celebrities and contributors, he revealed on Friday.

The Merrion, Conrad and Dylan beat the competition from other five star establishments around Dublin to facilitate the stars.

And the four-star Ballsbridge Hotel, the Clayton Hotel, the Camden Court Hotel, the Radisson Blu St Helen’s Hotel in Stillorgan and the Talbot Hotel in Stillorgan were also chosen.

The call for tenders stated that cash-strapped RTE had around 1,150 reservations in 2018, but pointed out that this figure can fluctuate each year and is not an indication of the number of reservations.

However, celebrities will have to pay for their own alcoholic beverages with the contract stating that there are no alcoholic beverages or bar items and that no additional fees or services are to be charged to the state broadcaster.

A spokesperson for RTE said that the € 350,000 in estimated expenditure “is a precise estimate for a period of two years. However, this is an estimate ”.

They added that the final figure “depends on RTE’s broadcast schedule and RTE’s program of events for the year which have not been finalized”.

He said: “In the case of RTE’s radio and television programs, guests are often short-term secure.

“RTE has succeeded in negotiating competitive rates with all the hotels selected following a public call for tenders, despite market inflation.

The spokesperson added that RTE is satisfied to have achieved value for money in the contract.

Regarding the need for a panel of five-star hotels to accommodate customers appearing on the network, the spokesperson said: “Customer requirements vary, so accommodation in a five-star hotel can be necessary from time to time. ”
