THE regional government is relaunching its Viatgem (Let’s Travel) initiative by issuing 20,000 vouchers for spending on hotel accommodation.
A total of 8 million euros has been allocated to the latest edition of Bono Viaje vouchers, usable from September 19 to December 23, offering discounts of up to €600 on holiday stays inside the Valencian Community .
The program was originally introduced in 2020 to help the region’s beleaguered tourism sector, which was hit hard by domestic and international travel restrictions in the first year of the pandemic.
The program has been so successful that the Generalitat has continued to issue the vouchers during periods of low season, explained regional president Ximo Puig when announcing this latest edition.
“We want the Bono Viaje vouchers to consolidate off-season tourism and maintain employment,” said Puig, accompanied by tourism chief Francesc Colomer and his second in command Herick Campos. “It also helps to introduce the inhabitants of the Valencian Community to all the neighborhoods in the region.”
Between January and May of this year, more than 78,000 residents of the Valencian Community made more than 26,000 reservations using Viatgem vouchers. This edition will offer reductions of up to 50% – up to a limit of €400 – on stays of two to four nights. This increases to 60% and to a maximum of €600 for stays of five nights or more.
According to Generalitat sources, more than 60,000 people will be able to benefit from discounts on accommodation between September and December, not counting the benefits for the economy of the region.
