This year, Hungary will have two magnificent new luxury hotels: Lake Balaton and Hungary’s most famous wine region will both receive a new five-star hotel.

The two lucky towns will be Szántód, a settlement on the shores of Lake Balaton, and Tokaj, the center of one of the most famous wine regions in the world. The total value of the two investments is estimated at 78 million euros (31 billion HUF).

The Accor hotel group and the Hungarian tourist real estate development group Dreamland Holding have signed a partnership agreement to operate 2 five-star hotels, which will open in the last quarter of this year, reports.

As stated in the press release outlining the developments, the Mövenpick hotel brand will debut in Hungary with the Mövenpick BalaLand Resort and FamilyPark in Sledon, while the Minaro Hotel MGallery in Tokaj will be the brand’s first hotel outside of Budapest.

According to Magyar Építők, the investment in luxury hotels aims to become the first high-end resort in the region. The new resort will mainly target couples and small to medium-sized events, with exclusive gastronomy and a special selection of wines from the Tokaj region, especially for adults.

The hotel’s design will combine “Tokaj’s liquid gold” with an “Eldorado” theme, reminiscent of South America.

The five-star, 100-room Minaro Hotel in Tokaj will open with an adjacent event center.

The complex, which will be completed in Szántód, on the shores of Lake Balaton, will be the first truly complete complex around Lake Balaton. It will include an indoor and outdoor water park and an adventure park, and more than 5,000 square meters of indoor facilities – also operated by Accor – in addition to the residential park.

“We are delighted to work with one of Hungary’s leading investors in tourism real estate. This is an opportunity to expand Accor’s rural network and strengthen our leadership position in the hospitality industry in Hungary and Central and Eastern Europe,”

said Dilek Sezer, Accor’s business development director for South East Europe, Magyar Építők reported.

“Both locations have growing international appeal: Lake Balaton is the country’s most popular leisure destination, and Tokaj is Hungary’s world-famous wine region,”

Sezer added.
